DECEMBER 29-31 : Bobo KL presents Tarakucha

Tarakucha SATU...EMPAT...JALAN! with Sean Ghazi and Ida Mariana. Satu, empat, jalan – in other words, one for the road, 2017. After the song and dance extravaganza in September for the DiverseCity Festival, Sean GhaziIda Mariana and some of the big band gang reunite on Bobo home turf for one last hurrah to bid 2017 Taraku-CIAO.

Tarakucha, the Terrer-Menerrer Big Band Baru with a vintage Malaysian twist. Created by and starring Sean Ghazi, Tarakucha is a homegrown 10-piece ensemble of some of the finest Malaysian musicians led by musical director Nish Tham. Classic songs from the icons of yesteryear; P.Ramlee, Jimmy Boyle, Anita Sarawak, Saloma dan banyak lagi are given a new lease of life by Sean and friends, all proudly exploring Malaysia’s musical heritage with humour, theatre, pizzazz and a touch of class.

DECEMBER 29 : Atilia at No Black Tie

A singer and songwriter, her adult contemporary sound is soulful and contemplative yet deals with universal themes of life and love to which anyone can relate. Atilia has already dabbled in the music industry from a young age.

She has a rich musical heritage and has given strong indications of her talent since young. When Atilia was 12 years old, she was selected as the lead singer for a regional Coca-Cola commercial representing Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore in Liverpool, England. Two years later, she recorded a duet with her mother (the legendary Salamiah Hassan) in Kadang Kala in the latters album “Menghitung Hari” way back in 1987.

DECEMBER 29 : #LEGACY : I, Revival The Final Show at The Bee Publika

One of the biggest shows of 2017 is happening on the 29th of December as former staples of Malaysian metalcore/post hardcore scene, I, Revival make a return for an exclusive ONE NIGHT ONLY performance.

Young Thousands/ I Revival at The Bee at Publika Kuala Lumpur

Hailing from Subang Jaya, I, Revival have been a staple in the metalcore/post-hardcore scene since 2011, drawing influences from bands such as August Burns Red, Miss May I, Asking Alexandria, and more.

After a break, the band recently regrouped in 2015 as Young Thousands​. With members from various bands, Young Thousands are definitely no strangers to the Malaysian and regional music scene. The band is currently in the studio for an upcoming album which is set to be released later this year, and have already dropped their new single ‘ctrl_decode’ earlier this year.

With special guests tonight including Villes (Singapore), Maddthelin and Patriots.

One of Australia’s busiest comedians, Mick is just as comfortable on-stage at the biggest comedy clubs and corporate functions in the city, and the smallest venues and sporting clubs in the country. His material is observant, sharp and satirical, highlighting the foibles of modern life in a likeable and relatable fashion. It’s intelligent, hilarious and sometimes political, delivered with high-energy and a never-ending stream of punchlines that continually take his jokes to the next level.

With 10 years on the Australian Comedy Circuit under his belt he now headlines every state, including The Comics Lounge, The Basement on the Gold Coast, Little Creatures in WA and more. He’s also worked with, learnt from and stolen jokes from the biggest names in the business. A regular guest on ABC Grandstand and Melbourne’s 1116 SEN radio, Mick has also appeared on The Circle (See Mick on The Circle) and Hey Hey It’s Saturday (Channel 9). He’s travelled to entertain Aussie troops serving overseas and appeared in his own solo shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and The Adelaide Fringe.

DECEMBER 30 : ALL LIT at TREC this weekend

Pastal Lite live at A Sunday Afair at Trec Kuala Lumpur

Lighting up the NYE weekend and closing the year with a bang at TREC. A Sunday Affair (ASA) will close the year with a bang this NYE weekend on Dec 30 [Saturday].

The duo-stage music-centric flea market will bring the indie rhythms of DJs Chaseylain and Bunga of Twilight Actiongirl, Random K.I.D featuring MC Terry T, TheManCalledUncle, plus bands Pastel Lite, Dirgahayu and Juno & Hana – on Stage 1 at the Quad with the music beginning at 6pm.

Stage 2 at Rhapsody Square will see The Blues Hats with their funk and soul arrangements, from 9.30pm till late.

This special NYE edition on Dec 30 will see the Craft Army artisan market with an assembly of 30 vendors at Quad, Hive and Rhapsody Square.

In addition, ASA's upcoming official bar at Electric Boulevard – Fu Luck Bar– will make its pop-up bar debut for two days on Dec 30 and 31. Fu Luck Bar is set to open next month.

Looking forward to next year, ASA dates in 2018 are scheduled for Jan 27, Feb 24 with its 1st anniversary bash on March 25.

Q-Sound is a versatile and dynamic trombonist, bandleader,singer-songwriter and composer who performs and explores a wide array of musical genres. Born in Wichita Falls, TX, he grew up in Fort Smith, AR. He moved to New York City to study music in 2003. Since moving to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2009, he has profoundly contributed to the development of the growing jazz/art music culture in SE Asia. Through his band, Q Sound has led numerous performances at jazz venues throughout the region, including sold-out performances at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas as part of DFP’s Happy Hour Series.

DECEMBER 30/31 : Tony Lakatos & John Dip Silas Trio 

Antal “Tony” Lakatos is a Hungarian Jazz saxophonist who currently lives in Frankfurt. Lakatos attended the Béla Bartók Musical Training College from 1975 to 1980, then moved to Germany, where he worked with Toto Blanke’s band, Uwe Kropinski, Jasper van ‘t Hof, and Wolfgang Haffner. He led his own ensembles from the late 1980s, including a group called Things; his sidemen have included, at times, JoAnne Brackeen, Terri Lynne Carrington, Al Foster, Billy Hart, and Anthony Jackson. He has also worked with Randy Brecker, George Mraz, Mingus Big Band, Chris Hinze, Kirk Lightsey, Dusko Goykovich, Michael Sagmeister, Roberto Magris, Art Farmer, and Kenny Werner.

John Dip Silas has performed at an array of jazz venues around Australia, Singapore, China and Malaysia. He has worked with a number of internationally acclaimed and accomplished musicians such as Shunzo Ohno (Japan), Michael Simon (Venezuela), Teriver Cheung (Taiwan), Diego Maroto (Mexico), Rodrigo Villanueva (Mexico), Maciej Fortuna (Poland), Chika Asamoto (Japan), James Flynn (Australia), Phil Scorgie (New Zealand) and many more.

DECEMBER 31 (NYE) : Public Voice featuring Muzza and Dian

Public Voice was established on May, 1994 by Reza Khalili who has education on lead guitar in private school in Iran. They started their work as serious in 1995. Public Voice found special status between its fans in the field of blues and rock.

This group also holds variety concerts, produced some albums and co-operate with other artists and singers in Iran. Since 2008, Public Voice have travelled (Turkey, Azerbaijan, Ukraine)to continue their music career and they play music in different and famous pubs since 2008.

Now the band line up is a three piece blues & rock band living in Kuala Lumpur, still  working on music and performing around the pubs and clubs. With Reza Khalili (guitar/vocals), Bahman Khalili (drums), Sasan Asgari (bass guitar).
