Nobu Kuala Lumpur has been making waves the past few months with its buy-1-free-1 promotions and&nbs...
Fondly known as “EVIE”, this feisty lass is barely 22 years of age and relatively fresh in the professional music scene. In 2011, she was brought in as a guest at the Red Rooster Reunion. This was where she caught the eye of popular guitarist Hillary Ang, who later hand-picked her to perform in the Konsert Petikan Lagenda 2012, where she rocked it out with him and other famed Malaysian guitarists Kid Search, Joe Wings and Man Kidal.
Soon after, she joined pub stalwarts Albert Sirimal and Badar Fawzy to perform at Souled Out (Ampang and Hartamas outlets). In 2013, Evie decided that she would be happier giving her all to music and left the hotel line to take up a one-year stint at TAPS Beer Bar.
Today, Evie performs with a number of accomplished musicians in the live entertainment circuit. Whether she is in a 2pc or 5pc lineup, she continues to wow audiences with her inimitable style and stage presence. Her wide repertoire ranging from jazz standards to pop promises something for everyone’s musical palate. She has performed at a number of established venues like No Black Tie, Alexis, Mezze, Tom Dick & Harry and is now a very much sought after young talent for corporate events and private functions.
Born with a natural gift of song, Evie is no stranger to audience. Even as a pre-schooler, she found herself being selected for solo performances in school concerts and celebrations. As she entered primary and secondary school, her musical capabilities shone brighter as she helped her school win various national and state music contests.
Although very much into current favourites like Bruno Marz, Ed Sheeran, Pink and even the late Amy Winehouse, this soulful young lady refers to herself as an old soul, for she finds her greatest inspiration from old greats including Ray Charles, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald and Shirley Bassey. Just like her idols, Evie does not believe that any song should be sung in vain. Which is one of the possible reasons why she has been making waves around local entertainment scene, mesmerizing listeners with her sensational vocal capability. She’s known to either touch you deeply or bring the house down with her renditions of songs.
