The Red Beanbag located in Publika Kuala Lumpur is a modern contemporary Australian-inspired café, located in a bright and beautiful corner overlooking the Piazza with a spectacular view of the Royal Palace at the back. Currently home to the Malaysian Barista Champion, we pride ourselves in putting a little bit of Passion and Perfection in everything we do, using only the freshest and highest of quality ingredients.
The Food
We take pride in what our extraordinary kitchen team produces each day. Head Chef Fhaizal and his team are dedicated to bringing the Western brunch scene in Kuala Lumpur to new heights by doing the simple things really well (like poaching an egg perfectly), whilst injecting some creativity along the way (like serving roti canai with lamb stew)!
The Coffee
We love coffee. Our coffee beans are sourced from the folks at Grand Central Premium Coffee Roasters in Perth, Australia. We have since worked with their master roaster, Luke, to create 2 custom Red Beanbag blends. The first was named 'The Skywalker' as a tribute to Luke, and our current blend is called 'The Kenobi'. The force is strong with both blends. Our head barista, Jason Loo, leads the team with our beloved Red Mean Machine (Nuova Simonelli Aurelia T3). The baker-turned-barista was crowned Malaysia’s Barista Champion in 2013/2014 so you can count on your coffee being in good hands!
